How-to Guide for Fogo Fungi grow kit
Here are simple, beginner-friendly steps to use your Fogo Fungi grow kit at home in Singapore.
Step 1: Open the box by peeling along the perforated line. You should see a plastic-lined substrate block in the carton box. Leave the block in the box and cut an "X" into top of the block. Leave the plastic flaps attached.
Step 2: Place your grow kit in a well ventilated area away from direct sunlight, but not somewhere dark (a kitchen countertop would be ideal). Spray the cut you made with fresh water 3-5 times daily.
Step 3: Watch your mushrooms grow! Once at the pinning stage, you can expect to see a bouquet of mushrooms within 2-3 days. To harvest, twist the entire cluster of mushrooms at its base.
Step 4: Enjoy! Sauté, grill, roast, toss into ramen.. your next meal just got an upgrade.
Step 5: Most kits grow more than once. Repeat steps 1-4. The second harvest should take 10-15 days to grow.

When is the right time to harvest?
Your mushrooms are ready to be harvested when caps are well-formed and just before edges flatten upward. In Singapore, this is typically 7-10 days from activation (when you first cut the bag open). To harvest, twist the bouquet of mushrooms gently at its base.

Quick troubleshooting: What's wrong with my mushrooms?
Please note that you should activate your grow kit within 3-5 days of receipt. Mushrooms are living organisms, and need oxygen to survive.
How long until I see results? In Singapore's weather, you will typically observe "pins" (tiny miniature mushrooms) on your substrate within 5-7 days.
Quick troubleshooting
- No growth after 10 days: too dry / too hot / not enough light
- Mold (green/black): too wet + poor airflow. If you observe green or black mold, please stop using the kit and dispose immediately. Do not consume.
- Dry, cracked mushrooms: not wet enough. Mist more + increase humidity
- Long stems, tiny caps: more fresh air (oxygen) needed
